When your child goes off to college, it signifies a new stage of life. Ocean Spray has benefits to help you through this transition and keep you and your student covered. Simply follow these steps, so you enjoy this milestone.
- Have your student apply for the Hal Thorkilsen Scholarship Fund Program.
- Find in-network providers near campus, and transfer any prescriptions to a nearby pharmacy.
- Check out your paid time off benefits to plan college visits and help your student move in to their dorm or apartment.
- Reach out to LegalEASE if you need help with legal needs such as student loan refinancing, if desired. If you are not enrolled yet, you can choose to purchase coverage now.
- Contact the Employee Assistance Program if you need personal support during this transition.
Hal Thorkilsen Scholarship
Once your kids graduate high school, their futures are wide open. Depending on what path they choose, those plans can come with a hefty price tag.
The name of the college game is scholarships. Ocean Spray gives your college-bound kids a chance to earn scholarship money so that tuition costs and other expenses don’t break the bank. Whether they are headed to a four-year school like the University of Massachusetts (go Minutemen!), a local community college, or a vocational-technical school, they can start off on the right financial foot by applying for the Hal Thorkilsen Scholarship.
Scholarship America manages the program and looks for recipients who have:
- Scholastic achievement (You studied hard for those grades!)
- Leadership potential (Someone’s got to be the next CEO.)
- School and community participation (Show us those helping hands.)
- Career aspirations (Dream big!)
- Financial need (We know those dreams can be expensive.)
Scholarship winners are selected impartially, and all applicant information is strictly confidential. The deadline to apply is typically in February, but the exact date will be announced when it’s known.
Can Your Child Apply?
As long as these criteria are met, your child is eligible to apply for the scholarship:
- Applicants must be dependent children of full-time employees of Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. or its subsidiaries in the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom.
- You are a full-time employee (not an officer or a member of the Pension and Savings Committee).
- You have been employed by Ocean Spray for at least one-year of continuous full-time status.
- Your child is your dependent and a high school senior who is enrolling in full time undergraduate study.
